Now that Harley has discontinued and made unavailable all 2007 and older cruise control kits, you now have two options for your Softail, or 2007 and older Road King, Electra Glide, Road Glide, Street Glide.
1. Find a "new, old stock" Harley cruise control kit listed for your bike (we have a few, call for details and price, only sold with one our kits), and use our wiring harness solution..... Or,
2. Cruisemount, llc has put together complete solutions, that contain all the parts you need (except wire ties and di-electric grease) to put Harley cruise on your bike. All items related to the operation of your cruise control will be 100% Harley Davidson, and work just like Harley originally intended it to work. But it is expensive... why? Because Harley decided to stop selling cruise control kits for anything older than 2007. Therefore it must be bought a part at a time. The cruise motor, or module, is now $402, and that just gets you started. You still new $200 more in Harley parts! The entire kits were only $389. Go figure???? Anyway, don't blame us. Our installation kit price is still only $446 of the Softail solution. Our price has not changed in 4 years. The rest is the Harley parts.
If you are planning on using an old obsolete cruise kit, be certain you can get the cruise control kit from Harley before you order our installation kit as all cruise control kits from Harley are now obsolete. Only some of the parts that make up the kits are all still available as individual parts. If you are planning on using the old solution, we strongly advise that you have the kit, or parts, in hand before you buy our installation kit. Our old installation kits are not returnable! Known obsolete = all cruise control kit for 2007 and older Harleys.
Can't find the kit you need? Cruisemount can build the new Softail solution for most Softails from 1996 to 2012. Just let us know what you need if you don't see it listed. Other solutions are available, just ask, contact us.
For the old obsolete kits, Cruisemount does not supply the required cruise control kit (except for 2011 solutions). You must get that from your friendly Harley Davidson dealer. For 2010 and older bikes using a stock Harley kit, Cruisemount supplies the components to install the cruise on your specific bike. For Softails this includes: mounting bracket, decorative cover, wiring harness, replacement idle cable, very detailed instructions with pictures, and miscellaneous parts. Road Kings and Electra Glides get only a wiring harness and/or idle cable, and instructions from Cruisemount. All installation kits require the separate purchase of the actual cruise control unit from Harley Davidson (except for the new Softail solutions). For 2011 - 2012 Softails, and any new Softail solution, Cruisemount supplies all components (cruise control module, stepper cable, mounting hardware, switches, wiring, idle cable, cover, etc. You supply wire ties, and di-electric grease.
Special note for Fat Boys, Fat Boy Lo, Softail Custom, CVO Springer, Softail Convertible, and any other bike with internal handlebar wiring, or chrome switch housings, using the old obsolete cruise control kits (except for 2011 solutions) - The internal handlebar wiring on your bike may include the turn signal wiring. This requires you to drill a 5/16" hole in the lower half of the new left and right switch housings to accommodate the turn signal wiring, because the cruise control switch housing do not have this hole. This requires your to disassemble the switches from the switch housings prior to drilling the holes. This is tedious and delicate work. Switches can be broken. We recommend dealer installation, and it can add 2 hours to the installation. Also, the cruise control kit from Harley includes BLACK switch housings. CVO bikes usually have chrome switch housing. You may need to purchase chrome switch housings that are "cruise Compatible" (except for 2011's, 2012's).
Softail® selection
All Softail kits come with a replacement "cruise compatible" idle "roll-off" cable of the stock length for the selected model with stock handlebars and riser. Call for longer lengths. We stock "roll-off" replacements for 56342-01 (most Softails - 30.5 inch) in black, stainless, and diamondback, 56433-98 (Night Train - 26.5 inch) in black, and 56934-07A (2007-2010 Softail Custom - 32.5 inch) in black, stainless, and diamondback. A stock length, black cable is supplied with each kit. See below to order braided and custom length.
